19-In Alamos, Sonora

After our short night riding to Los Mochis on a highway, entering in the dark and finding the hotel left us with no desire to explore that town the next morning. We just went straight to Alamos, north of where we where.

There is a highway going to Novojoa with no local  or other options possible so we paid 52 pesos ( $4.00) for aprox 130 Km (80 miles) for each bike. We considered it expensive. In addition when we got to the next toll you had to pay for the next 100 miles even if we just had to turn of the highway after 15 miles. A rip of!!

All was worth it when we arrived at Alamos,  a town settled in a natural reserve in the mountains. Here a view from the entrance to the plaza.

A store where we could by some fruit

Most pazas have these central stages with beautiful iron work and ornamentation

…lovely interior patios...

…a theater...

...a more modest street...

...flowers grown in abundance...

…an interesting construciton…with adobe...

…a tire repair shop...

…and roosters and chicken running free...

Then found this nice little restaurant at Maria Felix's old residence, where we had good food and even better company.

We received valuable information for our travels through mainland Mexico, which we would certainly value in the coming days.
